I do want to share a few highlights of our Family happenings this past year and I will try to be brief. We have started a family blog so if you want to keep up with all of the craziness that goes on in our family, feel free to check out booherbunch.blogspot.com From there you will be able to view the links to Ryan and Shannon’s blog, as well as Shauna and Matt’s. Breanna and Jessie have a blog also, so look for their link as well.
Neal is still at Diebold, and has the opportunity to work from home 3 days a week. He is loving not having to make the commute and enjoys sitting in his Lazy Boy to “work”. This summer, Neal had quite the spill on his motorcycle, receiving a broken arm and multiple stitches. He came out of it alright, and was even joking with the doctors while they were stitching him up.
I am still with Delta Airlines. I enjoy the work and everyone enjoys the benefits. We have been able to go on a few family trips together, including Branson, MO with my parents and a Caribbean cruise with some of the kids and both sets of our parents. All have been wonderful experiences and have given us some great memories together. I love to get all of the kids together as much as possible and just enjoy our family.
Ryan & Shannon have recently moved to San Diego from the Thousand Oaks area. They are enjoying taking the tour de California and have been able to live in three different major cities in the past fifteen months. Ryan has loved working for Intuit and both Ryan and Shannon are enjoying being able to meet new people and see all of the amazing beaches along the coast of California.Jonathan graduated from MMI, Motorcycle Mechanics Institute last February and returned to Utah. He is now working at Plaza Cycle in Salt Lake. We seem to think he can fix anything now, so he is becoming the family mechanic and with 10 cars and several motorcycles, dirt bikes and a 4 wheeler, he keeps busy!
Kyle is working at Lifetime Products. He is very dedicated to doing his best at work which has been recognized by being given a position as a Lead. Kyle LOVES riding his motorcycle. Unfortunately the winter is not the best time of year for him and his favorite past time!
Shauna & Matt are currently on an adventure. They left the 5th of December to travel through Central America. They are currently in Panama and plan to head north. They will spend the month of December traveling, then Matt will return to finish his last semester at Weber State. He is majoring in Health Care Administration and works at a skilled nursing facility. Shauna quit her job at a competing nursing facility and plans to travel for a little while longer, then return and continue working as a recreation therapist. They also took an 18 day trip to Europe this past May. They had a great time.
Jacob graduated from the U of Utah with a BS degree in Environmental Studies. He is currently in Washington DC, working for an environmental agency. He is loving that, but is finding that the pay is not equal to the expenses, so he has taken on a 2nd job. This past summer Jacob spent his time in Las Vegas where he worked for Daily Bread, a company that sells food storage. Jacob did get quite a bit of traveling in this past year. I can’t even remember all of the places he went. Panama, Costa Rica, South Africa, Chile, Ukraine and Israel, are a few that I can remember.
Breanna spent 4 months in Michigan as a Nanny for 3 young children. She thinks its cold here--she should be glad she didn’t spend the winter months in Michigan! She is currently working at a children’s gym and loving the kids that she works with. She also spent some time traveling. She traveled with Jake from Panama up into Costa Rica, and also went to Ukraine. She plans to spend the month of January traveling with Shauna.
Jessica graduated from high school in June. She completed several concurrent enrollment classes, so she has a good start on her college credits. In August, she left for Kiev, Ukraine to teach English to young children. She is living with a host family and has enjoyed her time there. She will be returning on the 17th, which we are all looking forward to. And then it's back to work for her, with the Jazz team doing catering, which she loves. We got to go visit her soon after she got there, so she showed us around and we were able to get a good feel for where she was and meet the family she is living with.
Josh, is a Jr. in High School this year. I still can’t believe it! He is dating and has gotten his drivers license. He is involved in an extra curricular program called “Best Buddies” which involves doing activities with some of the special needs students from the school. He is looking forward to spending some time on the slopes snowboarding and may even get a surf lesson or two from Ryan.
I know I get caught up in all the “things” that I need to do during the holiday season, but I want to focus on the reason we celebrate the birth of our Savior. I also want to express how grateful I am that we have a set time for remembering that Jesus was born and came into the world for our benefit. His life and sacrifice for us means more than any decorating and buying of presents that we fill our time with this time of year.
So much for a quick update! I hope you will have a wonderful Christmas and that the New Year will be filled with good health and happiness.
Best Wishes,
The Booher Bunch
